Nationwide Repo coordinates recoveries for banks, credit unions, finance companies, dealers, and private lienholders across North Carolina. Charlotte and the Triangle generate most of the volume, but paper goes bad everywhere — Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Durham, Fayetteville, Wilmington, Asheville, and plenty of towns with one stoplight.

The hard part here is spread. A borrower might clock in near High Point, keep the unit at a family address an hour away, and let it sit at a repair shop somewhere in between. When the trail goes cold, we fold skip tracing services into the assignment before anyone burns a trip.

Holding paper on a unit in North Carolina? Send the borrower, lien, and last-seen details and we'll take a look,  usually the same day for our services.

Three Territories, Three Different Playbooks

We don't treat a Boone file like a Ballantyne file. Access, drive time, and parking habits change with the map.

Piedmont & the Metros: Charlotte, Raleigh, Cary, Concord, Gastonia, and Burlington — apartment parking decks, gated complexes, commuter lots, and HOA street parking where a tow has to be quick and clean.

Eastern North Carolina & the Coast: Wilmington, Jacksonville, New Bern, Greenville, Rocky Mount, and the Outer Banks — marinas, boat lifts, seasonal rentals, and the occasional unit that keeps a ferry schedule.

Western North Carolina: Asheville, Boone, Hickory, Hendersonville, and Morganton — gravel drives, gated hollers, winter weather, and long stretches with no cell signal.

What We Recover Here

The mix leans automotive, but the paper we see runs wider than that:

Questions Creditors Ask About North Carolina Files

What do you need to get started?

A signed service agreement and hold harmless, the borrower's name and address history, the VIN and plate, and a copy of the contract or lien. After that, location clues are worth more than anything else — employer, apartment complex, storage yard, a cousin's driveway, the shop that did the last oil change. Even a guess helps. If all you have is a home address that went stale, send it anyway.

Do you really handle the whole state?

All 100 counties, Murphy to Manteo. Metro files usually move faster, and mountain or island files take more planning, but nothing is off the board.

The borrower is stationed at Bragg. Does that complicate things?

Somewhat. Recovery agents generally can't operate on a military installation, so units tied to Fort Bragg, Camp Lejeune, or Cherry Point are typically picked up off base — at a residence, a workplace, or in transit. Flag military status on the order so it gets planned that way from the start.

What happens after the unit is secured?

You get a condition report with photos, any personal items are inventoried, and the unit is held or transported per your instructions. If it's headed to sale, the transfer paperwork below matters.

Have a question we didn't answer? Call and ask — a two-minute conversation beats a stalled file.

North Carolina Title & Lien Notes for Creditors

Title Forms: Vehicle titles, lien records, and repo-related paperwork run through the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles.

Recording: Filing may be handled with the Clerk of Superior Court in the county where the buyer resides — or where the property sits, if the buyer lives elsewhere. Motor-vehicle liens are recorded on the certificate of title itself.

Peaceful Recovery: Self-help recovery is permitted when it's done lawfully and without breach of the peace. Confirm the right process for the specific contract and collateral before the truck rolls.

Redemption & Deficiency: Older summaries note there's no redemption once the sale is complete, that judgment notes are invalid, and that a deficiency may be limited when the debt is the purchase price itself. Verify current notice and sale requirements before disposal.

Transfer Documents: Plan on the title in the debtor's or repossessor's name plus an affidavit of repossession, and confirm current NCDMV forms before any transfer.

Plates: Plates stay with the owner.
